Poetry Friday - More Primary Source Poems

I'm still working my way through family documents and still writing every day, though not strictly in Japanese poetic forms as I did for this year's National Poetry Month project on poems and primary sources.

Here are the poems I've written for May 1-6. (Click images to enlarge for a better view of the documents.)

I do hope you'll take some time to check out all the wonderful poetic things being shared and collected today by Jama Rattigan at Jama's Alphabet Soup. Happy poetry Friday friends.

  1. These are wonderful, Tricia. Love seeing all these artifacts and your responses to them. Esp. like the photo of Aunt Tillie and seeing the penmanship in the letter excerpt. Backhand and left handed? Last line in first poem, "that damn woodpecker" made me laugh. :)

  2. Such variety. That green-backed poem says so much; neither south nor north met their expectations. I did love Aunt Tillie on the swing.

  3. Like Kat, I loved the picture & your poem about Aunt Tillie, but the one with the birth certificate, kept safe even in "too many moves", love shown. Thanks, Tricia, feels as if you could have a book with all you've written.

  5. Tricia, these poems are so interesting. Aunt Tillie and the baby photo in the carriage were wonderfully aligned with poetic words. I think these historical poems will become an important part of your family history.

  7. What a special collection you are building. I'm inspired and enjoying all your contributions. Those papers saved by mother...says so much.

  8. These are SO cool, Tricia. The 'drastic' threat over the desire to get a dog cracked me up. And the 'moon and back' response haiku is spot on. :)
