A Little Book-Related Art Work

My son was over the moon when an ARC of Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist Book 2: The Basilisk's Lair arrived addressed to him last week. He quickly re-read the first book (Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist Book 1: Flight of the Phoenix) before moving on to book 2. I knew he was hooked when he got to the end of the first chapter, gave a fist pump and yelled "Oh yeah!"

When he finished the ARC he wrote a thank you note and drew a few pictures inspired by the books.

I love raising a reader. There's just something about sharing the excitement of a new book that always makes me happy.

  1. Tricia,
I haven't read this title, but with your son's "pumped up" response, I think I might have to get my hands on it! You are so right...there is nothing better than raising a reader. The excitement you see in a child you teach is one thing, but when it's your own child, it hits deep in your heart! Congratulations and happy holidays. :-)

  3. Wow, how much do I love this! It's Nathaniel Fludd's first fan art. (That I've seen anyway.) Please tell him I'm HUGELY impressed!

  4. Robin,
I hope I haven't spoiled the surprise! The original has been winging its way to you, but may be delayed by winter storms. William is still carrying THE BASILISK'S LAIR around with him and selectively reading parts out loud, even though he finished a week ago!
