Poetry Friday - Morning

I was awake for several hours last night as a thunderstorm rolled through. My six year old son and nine year old dog joined me in the bed, stealing the best bits of pillow, blanket and bed while complaining loudly about the din. Their presence was a testament to the power of the storm. Once they settled in, I listened and thought. This is the poem that came out of my wakeful hours.
Morning
Fading
moon, rising sun
reveal day's beginning
joined by chorusers on the wing
Sing! Sing!

Sweet bird
friendly flower
oh visit me as the
quiet hour of dewy morn
awakes
Kelly has the round up today at Writing and Ruminating. Do drop by and take in the pieces that others have shared. Happy poetry Friday, all!

  1. Could just be the coffee that I sip as I read this, but I feel like I'm waking up just reading it! Good job.

  2. Tricia,

Could it be that you were doing a poetry stretch with cinquains as the storm rolled through?

    Well done!

  3. Tricia, that is really beautiful.

I wanted you to know that I finally did my cento. Your cento that you shared last week got me thinking about writing one. I did one for Poetry Friday today (and for Eisha's birthday). It was harder than I thought, but it was fun to write. I used song lyrics, and it might be kind of disastrous, but I at least get an A for effort. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Jules is too modest - her cento is AWESOME.

And this poem is just lovely. Thanks, Tricia.

  5. Not sure which is nicer -- the vision of a stormy night with bed-company, or the peace of the morn. Lovely.
