The call I've dreaded these last few weeks came in the wee hours this morning.
I had planned to go home next week to be with my family and move my mother into a new home. She'll be 80 in July, and as she reminded me just a short while ago, she's never lived alone in her life. But true to form she said, "If God's handing me this opportunity on a silver platter, I guess that means I better take it."
I'll be gone for a few weeks. Please keep my mom in your prayers.

Tricia, dear, I'm so sorry. I'm glad you had him for one last birthday. Prayers ascending for you. xo
ReplyDeleteTricia, I'm so sorry to hear this, but glad you can be with your mother right now. Thinking of you...
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteCondolences-- and know we're thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteLove, hugs, and prayers, Tricia -- for you, your mom, and your whole family.
ReplyDeleteOh, love and blessings to you, Tricia. Lighting candles for you and your mom...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Tricia. Your dad was such a role model for you, and your parents tried but couldn't protect you from the pain of this loss any more than you could protect William from his own recent grief. All we can do is love the best and most we can, and then muddle through our grief with help from others.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs,
Laura
I'm sorry Trisha. My prayers are with you and your family. Hugs too.
ReplyDeleteI am sending your family prayers on the wings of a snow white dove. Amen.

Oh, Tricia, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts go out to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteTricia - We only know each other through your blog, but I want to say, too, how sorry I am to hear this news. I hope you are surrounded right now with lots of family & lots of love - losing a father is hard. Did you notice how many of the people you interviewed during April cited their fathers as the reason they were drawn to books and poetry? And not long ago, you said in one of your posts, "When I was growing up my father never left the house without a book." It sounds like he was a wonderful man who lived a fully-engaged life. I hope you can take some comfort in that.

Dear Tricia,
ReplyDeleteIt's because of your blog and poetry stretch that I now have a blog of my own which has significantly enriched my life.

What sad news. We'll all miss you and be thinking of you while you're away.
ReplyDeleteTricia: I lost my stepfather (the man who raised me) first, too, more than 20 years ago. Fathers and daughters have a special relationship--especially you and your dad. My thoughts are with you and your mother. I'll tell you from experience it's difficult to deal with your own grief and try to help her with hers as well. If you ever want to chat, I'm here.

Tricia,
ReplyDeleteMy heart extends to you and your family through this very difficult time...remember, shed your tears, as that is what connects you with your dad...at least it did for me.
Bear hugs,
Marianne
I am sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteYour mother sounds like a courageous lady. I am so very sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteMy mom was here this weekend, and I just dropped her off at the airport. Tomorrow she'll be over at the cemetery putting flowers on my dad's grave, who died unexpectedly four years ago. She misses him every single day, but is nevertheless busy and relatively happy. I wish you and your mother and the rest of your family comfort during the coming days and weeks.
