Monday Poetry Stretch - Lies I've Told

I pulled this old gem off the shelf this weekend.
In Chapter 4, Writing Free Verse Poems, Janeczko provides a laundry list (no pun intended) of ideas for writing list poems. I've been stuck on the idea of writing about "lies I've told."

I hope you'll join me this week in writing a list poem on the subject of "lies I've told." Please share a link to your poem or the poem itself in the comments.

  1. This won't hurt.
    My room is clean.
Work hard and you'll get ahead.
I'll be there in a minute.
It's not a big deal to me.

  2. CHORES
    Yes, I’ve cleaned my room,
    Yes, I mowed the lawn,
I’ve been working on my chores
    since the crack of dawn.

    Yes, I’ve done the dishes,
    Yes, I’ve buffed the car,
when it comes to working hard
    I’m a superstar.

    Yes, I’ve pulled the weeds,
    Yes, I’ve sprayed the flowers,
I’m lounging on the couch because
my work’s been done for hours.

What’s up with all these questions?
    You don’t trust me, why?
Every chore has not been done
you’ve caught me in a lie?

Yes, I’m sorry, it’s all true
    I’m bursting with regret.
If you could forgive me, please,
    I’d be in your debt.

    What’s that, I am forgiven?
You’ve made my day for sure!
    But, now I’m on punishment
    until I’m ninety four?
