Poetry Stretch Results - Sijo

The challenge this week was to write in the form of sijo, a poem composed in three lines of 14-16 syllables each. Here are the results.

This form was very hard for me. I'm not sure if these qualify as sijo, but they're the best of the lot. (Apologies to my friends who teach English. I do not have fond memories from high school.)

Oxymoron
As Ms. Johnson drones on about the beauty of oxymoron,
we watch the ticking clock, wait for the bell to ring. When it does,
we suddenly realize why parting IS such sweet sorrow.

In tidy rows of tiny desks we study poetry—
theme, meter, metaphor, form. But where is the heart, the soul?
