Birthday Remembrance

My dad would have celebrated his 84th birthday today. While he didn't read poetry, I think he would have liked Ted Kooser.
A Birthday Poem
by Ted Kooser

Just past dawn, the sun stands
with its heavy red head
in a black stanchion of trees,
waiting for someone to come
with his bucket
for the foamy white light,
and then a long day in the pasture.

Read the poem in its entirety.
Happy birthday daddy. I miss you.

  1. Lovely remembrance. I do the same on the anniversaries of my parents birth. We always have those heart triggers to remind us.
