Today's found poem comes from p. 26-28 of Tracking Trash: Flotsam, Jetsam, and the Science of Ocean Motion by Loree Griffin Burns.
beachcombers gather
their finds
hints of serendipity
baskets of toys
a gold mine
washed ashore
a duck
a frog
managed a
treacherous journey

floating trash
goes on and on
I hope you'll come back tomorrow and see what new poem I've found.
goes on and on

What a fun project, Tricia! How are you choosing your source books? I love today's choice. This book should be required reading in middle school science classes. Maybe then there would be an end to the "floating trash" going "on and on."
ReplyDeleteA found poem on what's been found in the sea...hints of serendipity, for sure. Your poem, like the flotsam itself, is intriguing and haunting.
ReplyDeleteOh how I would prefer to find only natural things on the shore not mixed in with all the other "junk" though beauty is in the ee of the holder, right? I grew up by the sea and loved beachcombing so many decades ago. Shells, seastars, driftwood all hold meaning in memory for me. Your poem spoke to me on so many levels, Tricia.

Coooooool, Tricia! Enjoy this "urban, youthful, ironic, cruising kind of poetry"!
