Recently Read and a Boatload of Thanks

This is my shelf of recently read and re-read books. There's not a stinker in the bunch. I loved them all, and for many different reasons. Sadly, I've only written a review of one of them. I'm put to shame by my kidlitosphere colleagues who regularly crank out thoughtful reviews on a weekly (often times more than this) basis. There are days when I can barely manage to post, so I don't know how they do it.

If you see the product of your blood, sweat and tears on this shelf, (Robin Brande, Sara Beth Durst, Sara Lewis Holmes, T.K. Welsh and many others), please know that I have laughed, cried and smiled my way thorough the fantastic journeys you have taken me on. THANK YOU for sharing your gifts. (By the way, you should know that your titles are up there with my beloved Pride and Prejudice, an honor indeed!)

**Just Added** - If your eyes are anything like mine, you may have trouble making out all the titles, so here's the list (from left to right).
  • An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
  • American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang
  • Into the Wild by Sarah Beth Durst
  • Austenland by Shannon Hale
  • Do the Math: Secrets, Lies and Algebra by Wendy Lichtman (Read my review.)
  • The Green Glass Sea by Ellen Klages
  • The Last Dragon by Sylvia De Mari
  • The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
  • Evolution, Me & Other Freaks of Nature by Robin Brande
  • The Unresolved by T. K. Welsh
  • Letters From Rapunzel by Sara Lewis Holmes
  • Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R. L. LaFevers
  • A Drowned Maiden's Hair by Laura Amy Schlitz
  • Den of Thieves by Julia Golding (available only in the UK)

  1. Tricia, maybe you could list the books with simple notations, such as: excellent, not bad, page turner, etc. Or maybe just tell us which among these was your favorite. Which Aturo-Reverte book is that, with its hidden title? I've read a couple of his books. And I couldn't see the whole title of the Chaos book ... Theodosia(?) and the (???) of Chaos. I counted 20 books in the photo, including the orange one under Aturo-Reverte's book ... orange meaning it's a Penguin book ... lol. See how book-addicted I am? I always have my head turned sideways when visiting someone, trying to read the titles on the shelves!

  2. Well, Tricia, there are reviews and then there is seeing your book on someone's bookshelf amidst authors you love and admire. I know which one I'd rather have. :)

  3. Why is Sara always so much cleverer than I am? Sigh. What she said is exactly right--thanks, Tricia!

  4. I call my unreviewed books, "the bookstack of reproach" because the books WANT me to talk about them. Writing thoughtful reviews is hard work for me. Every book I enjoy is someone's baby and I feel like I owe them my best shot but some weeks it is easier to enjoy reading good blogs like yours.

  5. Oh Camille, how right you are. I feel bad just looking at the stack because there is so much I want to say about them. Reproach is indeed a good name for it!
And I too enjoy reading your blog. Sometimes it's so much more interesting to read than to write.
